SCUNTHORPE & DISTRICT CROSSLINE

“FREE CHRISTIAN LISTENING SERVICE”

WHO ARE WE?

We are a team of committed, trained Christian listeners, who care about

people and want to be available to help in their times of loneliness, bereavement, distress, sadness, or sickness.

THE AIMS OF CROSSLINE

The aim of all Crossline listeners is to offer an open heart of Love and

Compassion to every caller, irrelevant of age, nationality, sexuality or

religious belief.  Crossline listeners are not judgemental and seek to follow the teaching of Jesus, to care for and support vulnerable and needy people.

MORE ABOUT US

Crossline listeners are trained by the Acorn Christian Foundation and are also expected to take a  20 hour Specialist Course on Telephone Listening, Accredited by the Association of Christian Counsellors.

The Scunthorpe listening service opened on July 1st 2006 with seven volunteer listeners working a rota of three hour shifts on two nights a week.  Two telephones are staffed locally by two listeners on Wednesday and Sunday evenings 7.00pm - 10.00pm.

For the safety of listeners the venue is not widely advertised.

In April 2008 Scunthorpe became associated with MHHP (Mental Health Helplines Partnership) as well as linking up with Hull, Coventry, and Plymouth Crossline help-lines.

WHAT THE CHANGES MEAN

The link up enables the united Crossline Listening Service to be open  daily from 6.00pm to midnight.

While Scunthorpe & District Crossline continues to retain its own  Telephone number 01724 852244 to allow local callers to speak with a local listener if they desire; calls can be made from anywhere in the world and received on the National Partnership telephone number displayed below.
